Interview with Latvia

Andy on Mon, 11/15/2010 - 11:54

Before departure to postcards shootings we have met Sarlote Lenmane. She has spoken about herself and about her song Viva La Dance - the sense of the song is to understand each other with the moves and dance instead of words. She has also introduced the backing dancers who will join her on the stage. She has already met most of the contestants and she likes their songs a lot.

We have also spoken with Irene Gruzite, head of Latvian delegation, who has revealed that the invitation to Latvia came very late, during Azerbaijan EBU General Assembly meeting and have decided to accept the proposal. They underline that they consider JESC as big festival, where all kids are already winners as they have been selected by their nations to take part in such a big event. It is too early to say, whether Latvia may take part in JESC 2011, even if it will take place. But they would likely to keep the tradition of sending Balss pavielniks show winner to JESC, or would have organized some small scaled preselection. Head of delegation also remembered the huge interest for the first JESC 2003, when there had to be a draw, as there was massive number of countries applied, and unfortunately, for several reasons the interest in the contest has dropped since that.

Interview with Ralf

Andy on Mon, 11/15/2010 - 10:54

Early today we have caught up with winner of JESC 2009 Ralf Mackenbach. Unfortunately, he hasn't heard all the songs yet, so he couldn't provide expert opinion on that, but he will certainly see them all at today's opening ceremony.

All participants now in Minsk!

Andy on Mon, 11/15/2010 - 01:50

All participants of JESC 2010 have now arrived to Minsk. However, delegations of Moldova and Macedonia have surprisingly settled down in other hotels, and not official hotel Minsk, so we have not been able to meet them yet. Delegation of Belarus has been protective of their entrant and he has not been available yet for the photoshoot.

Today, official opening ceremony will take place in Palace of Republic. It is open by invitations only and will be broadcasted in Belarus and Ukraine.

Also, today, shootings of the postcards and recordings of UNICEF song will take place. As usual those events are not open for the press.

Friendship classes

Andy on Sun, 11/14/2010 - 22:56

Georgia and Malta have already visited their peers from Belarus schools. According to Georgian Mariam Kakhelishvili, this meeting was the best experience in her life, as she felt herself as a real star.

Maltese Nicole also had a wonderful experience at school number 97 in Minsk. "The people there are so nice and friendly. I wish to visit another school if possible as we really had so much fun", she said.

Russian delegation has arrived

Andy on Sun, 11/14/2010 - 22:08

And the first answer, we've been looking for - NO, Russia is not interested and will NOT host Junior Eurovision 2011 if such will take place. None of the members of Steering group was able to confirm us yet, whether the Georgia has indeed submitted the bid and it is considered.

From Day 2

Sasha and Liza are not tired at all, they have greeted the press (well, actually there currently are two press members working at the spot: ESCKAZ and Belarus KP newspaper whose reporting team is lead by former ESCKAZ correspondent Sergey Andrianov), and sang their song. They have already heard other songs on ESCKAZ website, and they think all contestants are very strong.

From Day 2

Last arrivals to Minsk

Andy on Sun, 11/14/2010 - 20:43

One of the last to arrive was Latvian Sarlote Lenmane.

Andy on Sun, 11/14/2010 - 20:37

At the end of the day we have met with Maltese representative Nicole Azzopardi and her team

At the end Nicole also performed her 2007 entry Life is a playground.

We've also caught Maltese team meeting with Dutch contestants

Arrivals day 2 - Sweden and Ukraine

Andy on Sun, 11/14/2010 - 13:12

Though Ukrainian Yuliya Gurska appeared as very confident, she believes there is no limit to perfection and she will keep on working hard to achieve her dream - victory at the competition. And today she will rest and walk around Minsk.

Swedish entrant Josefine is a bit tired and she wants first of all to eat and sleep, and the hardwork will start on Tuesday. First of all she wants to enjoy this week in Belarus.
