Azerbaijan first rehearsal press-release

Andy on Tue, 05/03/2016 - 12:57

Azerbaijani representative Samra takes the Eurovision stage for her first rehearsal on May 3rd at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. The number is being directed by Roine Söderlundh, who worked once before with Azerbaijan in 2009, helping guide Aysel and Arash to a third place in the final. This prior success made the famous director a logical choice for the Delegation, especially since ‘Miracle’ is the first Azerbaijani mid-tempo Eurovision song since the 2009 entry.

According to the director, the Azerbaijani act is based on the story of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ but with a modern and futuristic approach to the novel. Samra will be supported on the stage by two male and two female dancers. “They could be associated with the surreal Wonderland of broken relationships, and at the same time, they help build up the energy of the performance,” Söderlundh explains, “‘Miracle’ is not only about the end of relationship, but also about healing. We aimed to create positive warm feelings around the song and give some hope to the viewers.”

The on-screen video artwork is based on futuristic plexus geometry, both abstract and emotional. The powerful movement of the lighting fixtures, along with solid pyro-effects, further strengthen the number. The scrupulous camera work leaves nothing to distract the viewer from Samra’s stunning performance.

Samra is joined on the stage by Swedish backing vocals/dancers: Dea Norberg, Jessica Marberger, Zain Odelstål, Patrik Riber.

The stage director has also been very impressed by the 21-year-old singer. “Samra has amazing energy,” he remarked, “To me, it’s not only about her beauty, but her unique charisma and her talent.”

On the same date Samra announces the launch of her Miracle Team app for Android and iOS and Miracle TV vlog, which will be broadcast on the App and on YouTube. Samra and the channel's host, Australian comedian Louis Zezeran, will reveal exclusive details of her preparations in Stockholm on a daily basis and even give her fans a chance to win tickets to the Eurovision show and to join her #MiracleTeam in Stockholm.

Amber supports education for Refugees in Vienna

Andy on Wed, 05/20/2015 - 12:32

Amber and the Maltese Delegation have visited the Learning Café in Vienna.

The Learning Café (Lerncafe), set up by Caritas Vienna, is a free of charge service for kids and teenagers coming from refugee families.

Amber adores children. She was particularly keen to make this visit in Vienna, having previously worked for charity in Tanzania and having helped young kids in need in Reggio Calabria in Italy. Indeed, her plan is to go back to Tanzania this summer. Amber’s plan is to become a primary school teacher. She is completing a Bachelor of Education Degree in early childhood.

The Maltese singer was shown around the facilities. The environment is very colourful and child friendly. The Centre offers assistance to children to carry out their school homework, including reading practice, and provides the necessary tools to improve their computer skills. The Learning Café also provides educational guidance for parents with the help of volunteers.

Amber played with the children, taught them about Malta and sang them the song Warrior. Though the children could not communicate in English, Amber managed to build a bridge with big smiles and warm hugs. She also distributed Eurovision memorabilia.

Twenty four NGO’s and other institutions in Austria are calling for an end to unfair politics related to refugees in the EU. Amber signed a petition promoted by the NGO’s and the Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchu.
