2nd dress rehearsal for 1st semi

Andy on Mon, 05/18/2015 - 20:04

Welcome to the live English blog at the semi 1 jury final. Refresh page for updates and I will be ready to answer your questions here or on Twitter

There is some messy camera work at Conchita Wurst performance in the very beginning.

"Contestants, the stage is yours" and contestants are being introduced in green room.

Conchita Wurst is finishing her song after all contestants are introduced. She introduces hosts who on their turn introduce her as green room host. A joke about obligatory French language follows.

Moldova postcard features Eduard Romanyuta being winner of the tractor race. First victory for Moldova in Austria.

Very confident vocals for Eduard during his performance, he really delivers the energy flow, this actually is impressive and memorable.

Armenia is next on the stage with Genealogy. There is something wrong in what Vahe is sounding. Otherwise they are nailing it. I am still not convinced it's a qualifier, but it is close.

Belgium - Loic is doing street music and dancing in his postcard. He is a bit of trying hard at the rehearsal and it just doesn't look natural. I'm not convinced it's a qualifier. He gets though the first big apploads of the press-center.

The Netherlands - Trijntje is doing balloon flying at the postcard. A new outfit for The Netherlands looks a bit of baggy. I can't see this as qualifier, despite good vocal delivery.

Finnish postcard is Wiener Linien tram promotion. Camera work is very rough, but somewhat suits the song. It's on the verge of being mixed up with the interval act as it's so different.

Australia is being welcomed to the contest by hosts. Green-mom Conchita chats to Loic from Belgium. Hey gorgeous... Conchita moves to Trijntje Oosterhuis asking her about pronunciation of her name and revealing outfits. Good to talk to you darling.

Maria Elena from Greece got hammer in her postcard as present from Austria. Stunning performance that screams top 3 in the semi. 2nd big applause in the press-center.

Skateboarding in postcard for Estonia. This is good enough to do top 5 in semi, but not too strong to break top 5 in the final.

Macedonia is trying too hard too, and again that looks unnatural. No matter how I'd love it too, this isn't really staying in.

Serbia is on the verge of being out too, this is a mess, but organized and scheduled mess. This staging will either work or won't, and I'm more close to 2nd choice.

Despite having some Balkan countries and France to support, Hungary is completing the run of countries that either fail to leave impression at all, or do it wrong.

I've been trying - is the key word in Belarus performance. It's on the level of 2nd rehearsal, so much better than 1st, but still could have been so much better. Uzari gives his best performance of the week and it can barely make it.

Polina Gagarina looks very nervous on stage for some reason and it isn't her best performance. It won't trouble Russia's qualification but it may loose out of top 3 in semi. Yet another big applause in press-center for Russia and moving straight to Conchita talking to Elina & Stig.

Conchita also talks to Bojana calling her darling two times at least.

Denmark is next and just passing bye. May be enough to get teenage girls vote.

Albania nailed the vocals which have been questionable all through the week and now can hope for jury vote.

There aren't many changes for Romania, all goes well as planned, with the song being quite different from the field and closer to the end of the order it should make it.

At this position Georgia is really dangerous, and with Russia being a bit of shaky tonight, the winners of the show are Georgia and Greece to me.

Europe and Australia start voting now. Vienna highlights as the advertising break video. One more big feature about Australia in the another video.

Good morning Australia and Good Night Europe ends the show tonight.

Fake qualifiers tonight are: Denmark, Belarus, Albania, Macedonia, Georgia, Finland, Serbia, Romania, Hungary and Estonia. Moldova, Armenia, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Russia didn't make it.

Recap of 10 qualifiers to finish the show.
